Trade Show Displays Frequently Asked Questions

Thompson/Kerr Displays offers solutions for your trade show display design and building needs. We provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our trade show display services.

How much does a portable display cost?

The following ballpark figures are just that. Each display is different, and the price can vary considerably depending on quality of the equipment, graphic coverage, accessories.

  • Tabletops - $300-5000
  • 8’-10’ Freestanding Display - $2000-10,000
  • 10’x20’ Inline Display - $5,000-20,000
  • Islands - $10,000+

What are the types of portable trade show displays?

Pop-Up – A web-like structure that pops up into position easily ( some more easily than others). Graphic mural panels or Velcro compatible fabric panels are then attached to the frame. The pop-up frames can be used as tabletops as well as islands.

Panels – These displays are made up of hard panels of varying sizes which go together without tools to form different shapes and sizes of displays. Some of the panel systems are folding sections ( like an accordian), and some are all individual panels.

Hybrid Systems – These displays are made up of aluminum poles with panels attached and/or tension fabric. Many shapes and sizes of displays are possible with this system, and monitors or plasma screens can be attached to the poles, for a "techie" look.

Bannerstands – Stands to support vertical banners of varying types and sizes. Most are lightweight and easy to use, and break down into very small carrying bags. The banners can be laminated or printed on cloth.

How long does it take to get a portable display?

That depends on the type, but some are available within a few days, and some take 2-3 weeks to get. The larger displays take longer, 4-8 weeks, depending on the complexity.

What about graphics for my display?

Once you decide on your display unit, then the graphics can be designed for that unit. You can design them and provide us with a finished file, ready to print, or we can design them for you. Click here for our file format sheet. (opens in new window)

The most important thing about graphics is that we need 100 dpi AT THE FINISHED SIZE.

How do I learn to set up my display?

  1. Set up instructions should come with your display

  2. Check our set-up section of this website for instructions/tutorials on certain displays

  3. We will be happy to give you a lesson in set-up when you get your display.

What if I don’t have room at my office to keep my display?

We can store your display at our facility, and if you wish, we can ship it out to shows for you. You can use as many or as few of our Exhibit Management services as you wish. Ask us about the program.
