Jane Thompson Judges IAA Displays in Indiana

November 25th, 2009

“LIghts, Camera, Action ” at the 2009 Indiana Apartment Association Convention, held at the Indiana Convention Center last week.
The IAA, one of the largest and most active apartment associations in the country, always puts on a fun show for both exhibitors and attendees alike. This year, over 150 exhibitors interacted with over 1500 attendees during the 2 day show, which ended with a gala dinner and awards for the best booths.
I enjoyed touring the show, and acting as one of the judges for the “best booth” award.  A couple of months ago, the IAA had also sponsored a meeting where I was the speaker, teaching the exhibitors the best ways to make their trade show marketing successful. The IAA is committed to making the show successful for every one, every year!
While there, I said hello to some of our clients, and couldn’t resist taking pictures of their beautiful booths. (see attached)
The IAA also dabbled in “twittering” during the show.  Keeping everyone up on the latest happenings, in the educational sessions and on the show floor, is one of the best uses for ‘twitter”, I think.  You can see their tweets at iaaconvention.  You can also visit the Indiana Apartment Association on line.

Banner Stands

June 29th, 2009

Practical, lightweight and easily erected, banner stands are the ideal solution to your display needs.  Often contained in lightweight bags or carriers, banner stands are easy to transport through any mall or airport.  And because graphics are stored within the base of the banner stand, your valuable graphics are well protected.

Want to get someone’s attention with your banner stand – try the scrolling banner stand.  Nothing gets your attention like a moving object.  Scrolling banner stands offer the opportunity to advertise a variety of products in an eye catching manner and provide a professional, cutting-edge, marketing tool.  Also, consider the Info Plus banner stand that incorporates a literature rack within the banner stand – this gives the designer an opportunity to extend your marketing into another dimension.

Banner stands can also be manufactured to work outside where your marketing can reach a broader audience.  Such products as the Storm Pro, Wind Dancer series, Zoom Spinning banner, Spinnaker or Monsoon banners are all available at conveniently low prices.

Come check us out at thompsonkerr.com and see our wide selection of banner stands.  Whether you are indoors or out, we have a banner stand that is just right for you. info-plus-banner-stand-139-x-85-banner-1

Trade Show Lighting

June 12th, 2009

ll-8-1light-source-display-lighting-42When preparing for a trade show, do not assume that the trade show facility’s  lighting will be adequate. Often these spaces are sparsely lit with pale florescents off in the distance. Not to mention the color of light projected by florescents is often unappealing to displays. Lighting of exhibits and displays is a essentially a science and not to be taken lightly. Why spend a large budget on marketing your product only to ruin it with poor lighting?
Here are a few tips in safe guarding your marketing/displays in terms of lighting. Realize that lights (technically lamp is the correct term) give off wave lengths and that these waves vary in length and width. These changes effect both color of light projected and, let us say, intensity of energy projected. Museum professionals don’t like florescents since their wavelengths are essentially in the ultraviolet spectrum and cause damage to precious objects. Designers and exhibit professionals will also shy away from florescent lighting since it projects a blue-green tint which can easily disturb the aesthetics of your images. Even MR 16 lamps that are used with displays have variants in their color spectrum – although, generally you aren’t going to notice much of a difference in displays. Museum professionals will be knowledgeable of their specs and color spectrums and will avoid particular lamps because of their effect on paintings and objects.
Secondly, focal points provided by lamps are generally either broad (as in flood) or spot oriented. Spot lights are more commonly used in exhibits to emphasize an object and are not really all that helpful for trade show displays (unless of course you have products on shelving). Floods are more user friendly for trade show displays – they project a soft even light and fill your marketing images quite adequately.
Finally, try to avoid projecting your lighting too closely to your tension fabrics and panels. Admittedly, some display lighting is awfully close to the panels – so try to point lamps downward across the plane of the image.

Sprint Bannerstand helps Promote May Day Tea

March 16th, 2009

Thompson/Kerr Displays donated a Sprint bannerstand to the Carmel/Clay Historical Society to help promote their Grand May Day Tea fundraiser ( http://www.carmelclayhistory.org/maydaytea.htm). The Sprint bannerstand was a good choice for this project because the banner could be shorter than full size, to allow the placement of a lit rack to hold the flyers. Since this stand will go into stores around town, people can take the flyers with them, which have the information for purchasing tickets.  The Sprint bannerstand is easy to carry around and set up, which is important when volunteers are doing that job.

McLarens Young International Introduces 10×20 Exhibitline Display

March 16th, 2009

McLarens Young International, a leader in global claims services, picked Thompson/Kerr Displays to build their new 10′x20′ trade show display, debuting at the PLRB 2009 Claims Conference in Seattle later in March. MYI wanted a fresh, new look for their booth presence, and the ability to hold 2 large monitors. Thompson/Kerr Displays designed an easy- to – assemble, yet fresh-looking extrusion system that will allow them to upscale their presence at their trade shows this year. In addition, the exhibit design can easily reconfigure to a 10′x10′ trade show booth. The client couldn’t be happier. Their exhibitline (Euro) trade show display weighs half of what their old trade show display did, and will only take about 2-3 hours on site to set up.

Chirotouch Purchases 10×20 Euro Trade Show Display

March 12th, 2009

Our client Chirotouch wanted a trade show exhibit that was attractive, portable, easy to set up, reconfigurable, and had the ability to hold monitors.  They also needed to have locking storage with their counters.  The perfect exhibit solution for them was our Exhibitline (Euro) trade show display system.  Since this system is simple to set up (no tools required) and reconfigurable from a 10×20 trade show booth to a 10×10 trade show display, it fit their exhibit needs perfectly.  The graphics on this system are printed on fabric using the dye sublimation process which burns your image into the material creating bright and vibrant colors.  After their first show last month they reported nothing but positive feedback.  Their new trade show display made their show a 100% success!!!

Our Exhibitline (Euro) Trade Show Display System fits the needs of most exhibitors.  It not only provides a modern attractive look, but it also features all of the portable solutions exhibitors are looking for these days.  In addition , the Euro display system fits any companies green program.  The hardware is made from recycled aluminum and Thompson/Kerr offers graphic murals printed on recycled fabric from soda cans.  For more information please contact us at 1-800-580-8161 or visit our website at http://www.thompsonkerr.com/Custom-Modular-Displays/Euro-Exhibit-Displays
